We count down our favorite memories from the finals…
This week we’re counting down our favorite five memories from the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals in Hamburg.
Third place goes to…
Another medal for the legends
The stats spoke for themselves. Having clinched the bronze medal and third place at the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals presented by Vodafone, experienced Brazilian superstars Larissa Maestrini and Talita Antunes made it 21 medals from just 36 tournaments on the World Tour. Delve deeper into those numbers and the figures are even more impressive. The bronze was Larissa’s 105th medal of her career and Talita’s 70th. That’s a whopping 175 medals between.
What was even more impressive was that the Brazilians – who finished fourth at the Olympic last summer – started the tournament with two defeats.
The two 35-year-olds showed that they are still a force on the international tour – a point highlighted by their second successive bronze medal match win over Canadians Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes.
A bronze medal at the World Championships followed by one at the World Tour Finals says it all. Keep it going, girls!
Bronze !🥉👊 Larissa e Talita vencem por 2-0 (21/17; 21/19) Pavan e Melissa e conquistam assim o bronze em Hamburgo no último torneio da temporada internacional. Valeu galera pela torcida ! 👏👏😉 📷FIVB #LarissaeTalita #vult #exercitobrasileiro #oakley #ministeriodosesportes #cbv #fivb
