Home favorites’ have a happy Wednesday in Hamburg
Did somebody say there’s a Major on in Hamburg?!
Hell yeah! And the German women are certainly making the most of the party on the opening day of the Pool Play – that and being inspired by the raucous home crowd inspiring them to victory!
Three of the German teams secured back-to-back victories: Hamburg fan favorites Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst, wildcards Julia Sude and Chantal Laboureur and Karla Borger and Britta Büthe – who are of course battling to nail down an Olympic berth this week!
The same could not be said for all of the men’s teams BUT there was joy for Markus Böckermann and Lars Flüggen who overcame the strong challenge of Italians Alex Ranghieri and Adrian Carambula. We knew that game would be a good one and so it proved – the Germans running out 2-1 winners in an epic match that lasted almost an hour.
All of the men will have the chance to stake a claim for their spot in the knockout rounds tomorrow. Which Germans will be celebrating on home sand? There’s only one way to find out! Join us at the beach (or on our live streams J)
