Knock on the knee knocks out German glee
The curtain might have come down on another spectacular day at the Rothenbaum but in this game the drama is never over and there was some shock late news on Friday as Germans Lars Flüggen and Markus Böckermann forfeiting Saturday’s quarterfinal.
The pair were due to meet Viacheslav Krasilnikov and Konstantin Semenov in a tasty last four encounter, but a knee injury to Böckermann means the German fans won’t get to see their heroes again tomorrow. The Russians therefore automatically advance to the semifinals.
Despite the disappointment, the team can take comfort from their victories today which secured their place in the Olympics this summer. Get that knee sorted quick, Markus!
